About the Author Jamie McKinven is a former professional hockey player who played in the NCAA, ECHL, CHL and Europe. Along the way, while riding the buses, living paycheque to paycheque and spending the summers living in his grandmother’s basement, he discovered a great deal about life, love and the value of following through on a dream. McKinven was a star as well as a healthy scratch. He won a championship and finished dead last. Scored an overtime winner and cost his team a game, and through it all, experienced a lifetime of memories that spanned two continents, seven countries and eight leagues.

Brings a new level of respect for what these guys go through as they chase their dream. Very balanced picture of the highs and lows. Not all glamour, not all gloom and doom. The author does a good job of looking back at his own experiences and seeing the big picture.A few chapter transitions were a bit abrupt and there were some areas where he could have gone deeper. Another 75 pages and a bit of polish would make a worthwhile second edition. These nit-picks don't detract from the power of the book.PS: Clarkson sucks! (Sorry, RPI guy here).

Once I started reading I had trouble putting it down. Jamie takes you on the journey of a pro hockey player in the bus leagues. He shares great stories of his life a a pro hockey player in a small town. By the end of the book, you really feel like your a part of his journey.
