The Ice series is a contemporary romance series centering around ice skating pairs. You should read the first book, Crossing the Ice, and the second Losing the Ice, before reading Taking the Ice as they all feature the same couple. Courtney and Josh. Crossing the Ice was one of my favorite books of 2014 so I feel confidant recommending it to fans of contemporary romance and ice skating everywhere. I love Jennifer Comeaux's writing. In Losing the Ice Courtney and Josh were finally paired up together and I was super excited to see them skating together, and I was even more excited to read Taking the Ice, because not only were they still skating together but this time they were going for Nationals and maybe the Olympics. Talk about high pressure.Losing the Ice was much more somber than Crossing the Ice. So I was ready for happier times with my favorite couple. And while Taking the Ice was not without its' share of bumps in the road, I thought the overall tone of this book was light and happy. And I loved that. What I really also love about this series is that you can't always expect the happy you know they are going to win ending with Jennifer. Because I knew that from her first two books, I was on the edge of my seat the whole time I was reading. Sometimes you read books and while it might not always be going the main characters way, you just know that in the end they are going to come out victorious. While that is nice, and I certainly enjoy the warm fuuzzies it makes me feel, the air of the uncertain, especially in sports books, makes read so much more exciting. And I am so not telling you what happens with their skating. You will just have to read the story to find out.I will say this about Taking the Ice. Courtney and Josh are as great together as ever. I just love their relationship and how solid they seem as a couple. The ice skating is as thrilling as ever, and the story and series wrapped up perfectly. I am so happy with the ending and with their overall journey. This has to be my very favorite ice skating series that I have ever read. Read the Ice series, if you haven't already. Read it now!*Disclaimer- I got a copy of this book for free in exchange for my honest review. I was not compensated for my thoughts.

What a wonderfully delightful wrap-up to Courtney and Josh's adventure together. The Ice series, by Jennifer Comeaux, has been one of my favorites, and I'd recommend reading them in order. In addition. Ms. Comeaux wrote an additional series (The Edge) that focuses on the younger years of Courtney's coach Em, but you can always go back and read those after if you've already started these books (that's what I did).We meet Courtney and Josh in December, almost 3 years after the end of the second book, Losing the Ice. They have skated well together and are now once again facing the pressures of competing well enough to make the Olympic team. All the series regulars are here, with the addition of a few new characters who present some added pressure.I was really wrapped up in the story and couldn't put the book down. It wasn't a very long read, but felt like a good length for the story at hand. Sometimes authors drag out angst just to hit a page-goal, and the story suffers because of it. In this case, it felt just right.Josh remains as loving, loyal, and silently strong as ever. If ever there was a perfect book boyfriend, he's it. Courtney is faced with the difficulty of skating on top of the internal stresses associated with her past skating goals, which have thus far come up short of her lifelong dream. When you add Josh's insufferable parents to the mix, you'll probably be wondering just how much more they can take. That being said, the book has plenty of sweet, tender, and happy moments that left me swooning. The relationship between Court & Josh is so strong, but she is longing for an engagement ring. After seeing how Josh's parents interact and learning more about the way in which they raised (or didn't raise) their children, she has to wonder if he might agree with his sister Stephanie in swearing off marriage forever.I absolutely loved all the interactions with their coaches, and fellow skaters, and especially Liza! She was a wonderful surprise, full of so much energy and inner-strength. And her relationship with Courtney is something many sisters would long for. Even Stephanie surprises with an unexpected interaction with one of Courtney's competitors. Will Courtney and Josh pull it together at Nationals and get to take that elusive trip to Sochi? Will Courtney get the engagement she has been hoping for? Or will Josh's mother pull off the incredible upset and finally succeed in driving a wedge between her son and the girl who she believes has derailed his life?I'd recommend this book to anyone who enjoys romance, ice skating, the Olympics, and light-hearted feel-good stories.I was gifted a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

By Brian M Gallagher Fans of Comeaux's "The Ice" young adult romance novels will eat up this final novel in the trilogy since we get to bask in Josh and Courtney's wildly romantic relationship, seeing them unite as a true team both on and off the ice. It was satisfying to have a full book full hugs and kisses, and anticipation of seeing Josh fulfill Courtney's hopes of moving their relationship to the next level. This couple has faced their challenges, and readers get to "awww" their way through Josh being the strong, supportive, dreamy boyfriend he is, supporting Courtney when she doubts herself during competitions. Just incredibly satisfying from the beautiful figure skaters on the cover of the book all the way to the very last page! It's an Olympic year for Courtney and Josh, who need to win either first or second place at the figure skating National Championships in Boston, in order to be named to Olympic Team USA and go to Sochi, Russia for the Olympic Games. Comeaux expertly describes both the physical and emotional atmosphere that surrounds important skating competitions, and I truly felt as if I were there. The roar of the audience, the suspense of waiting for judges scores and the drama behind the scenes were perfectly detailed in the book, and it added a lot of suspense and color to the story. Combining the romance with Olympic year dreams, throwing in all the beloved (and not so beloved) characters from "...the Edge" and "...the Ice" series and it's a perfect summer - or winter!- book to read and love.
