Highly recommended By Terence Martin To even to consider doing the Ironman Triathlon is a feat of courage but I had to read and see what kind of training is suggested in this book for this extreme challenge. As is to be expected this is not an overnight routine, there are no short cuts even to doing a marathon, so expect to work very hard for the Triathlon. That said the author is realistic with how he suggests taking your training on a gradient to increase strength and stamina. Expertly covered is the choice of equipment and cost. An extremely comprehensive book on all aspects of preparing for the Triathlon—a great book but for now I think I will sit this one out. Highly recommended read.
0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. he asked for a review in his book By Michael Blumenthal first. it you are going to do your first triathlon, do not do any speed drills. work on endurance with longer easy workouts. as you gain experience and fitness, then move into speed training. his plans included in the book are likely to injure most newbies. first training run is tempo. second. he recommends a tri suit. amateurs do not need it. it would be much better to buy clothes that are comfortable and you can easily use a portopotty with. a one piece tri suit is not easy to pee

It covered topics I didn't even think were needed to be considered, everything from gear and preparation to multiple training plans and nutrition. I think this book has set me up with a good fundamental knowledge to start preparing for my first triathlon, well and motivated also! Anyone with little or no experience will find this book very useful, and more experienced people probably won't as much.
